What can I say, Monterey County located on the Pacific Coast of California is truly remarkable. It was a pleasure to road trip along the scattered rugged coastline and visit local state parks and cute seaside towns.
Our first stop coming from Yosemite was Point Lobos State Park. You have the free option of parking on Pacific Coast Highway and walking to the trailheads, or paying a $10 car admission fee to drive a mile inside the park to the official parking lot. There is a bathroom located just beyond the entrance gate. From the parking lot, you will see a small information booth and the trailhead for the Cypress Grove Trail, an easy and flat, 1 mile loop track that takes you to many incredible vistas along the coast. Return time ~30 minutes. No drones allowed.
Heading south along PCH, our next stops were the Rocky Creek and Bixby Creek Bridges. With views of mountains, sandy beaches, rocky coastline and impressive bridges, what more could a drone enthusiast ask for?!
Zipping past fancy mansions and breathtaking viewpoints, our final stop along Big Sur was at Julie Pfeiffer Burns State Park, to stroll the short 10 minute track to the McWay Falls Lookout. There is free parking along the coastal side of PCH.
Tip: all the coastal viewpoints/pullouts can be accessed on the right side of PCH, so it is best to drive from north to south until you hit the (current) road closure beyond Julie Pfeiffer Burns State Park.
After another long day of driving and seeing the sights, we headed to the quaint town of Carmel-By-The-Sea for a memorable dinner at La Bicyclette. The town’s buildings and boutiques are truly reminiscent of houses from fairytales, and I would highly recommend spending a day here exploring the streets and restaurants if you have the time š
Thus comes the end of another whirlwind trip, packing in Coachella, Yosemite and Big Sur in the space of one week! Thanks to the homies for the good times, and I hope you enjoy the video of our adventures below, happy watching!Ā š
